Mission Trip
MISSION TRIP-ATLANTA '96
Thank you very much for your prayers for my mission
trip to Atlanta this summer. The Lord
had abundantly blessed my mission trip. Here is the over-view of my trip:
There were nine people, including me, from Philadelphia going on this
trip. We traveled to Atlanta by cars. God kept us safe on the roads
even though we got some heavy rains on the way down and we arrived in
Atlanta on time as scheduled. The team had forty people. For the first
three days, we received training for evangelism, children ministry, mime,
sketch-board, and magic tricks. After that, our team was divided into
three groups for day-time ministries. The first group helped with the
Day-Camp at the Community Bible Chapel, the church that we had
partnership with for the time there. The second group, open-air
evangelism group, went out to the streets and neighborhoods to
evangelize. The third group worked with an urban ministry that Community
Bible Chapel has. This ministry works through a home center. They sell
things at affordable prices for the poor people in the community.
At night, we went out to the Olympic venues to give out tracts and
witness to the people that we came in contact with for the first week.
The Olympic fans did not seemed to care about the Gospel at all. One of
our team member said: "Either they are all Christians or they are all
going to hell." We then shifted our focus to the people who live in
Atlanta, they seemed to need God more. For the second week, we went out
as the whole team every night to housing projects in the neighborhoods
and had evangelical programs there for everyone. Some night, we had
about 270 people gathered for a particular program. About half of the
people at the meeting accepted Christ as their Savior. Over the two
weeks there, about 1160 people heard the Gospel and about 250 people
accepted Christ. I believe that God is really pleased to see many people
came to know him.
Once again, thank you for your prayers. May God bless you.
